November 5
I've officially put in my last day. November 5. Work was scheduling for the next six months and it seemed more honest and straight forward to let those doing the planning know I would not be around this winter. There's no turning back now.
Now that everyone at work knows, I'm more comfortable officially discussing the adventure online, so I figured we should get the blog up and running.
Everyone so far seems like they're really excited for us and can't believe we're doing something so crazy. Its pretty much my reaction too. I'm also starting to hear from people secondhand and they're mostly checking to make sure they heard right, or maybe that it wasn't a dream (I keep pinching myself too).

The Bahamas Chart Arrived!
For as long as Ben and I have been talking about the future we've been talking about spending time living on a sailboat. We've talked about the perfect boat, homeschooling our kids, the future, but talking to other people who have done it we keep hearing not to wait. Don't wait for the perfect boat, don't wait for the perfect timing, just do it. So, next winter we're borrowing Ben parent's 30 ft Maine Cat and making time.
The next step: come up with a plan.
Right now we're thinking about 3 months next winter, but we're trying to figure how far out of the Bay that will get us. We ordered a big chart of southern Florida and the Bahamas. I'm no geography whiz, but Cuba is HUGE. Who knew? Too bad its off limits (right?)
